    REIC Announces National Board of Directors for 2010-2011 Year

    The new REIC Board of Directors took office this past weekend in Niagara Falls ON.

    The REIC National Board of Directors for the 2010-2011 year were inaugurated at the 55th Annual General Meeting this past Saturday afternoon in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Please view this Press Release for all the details on the New Board of Directors for the Institute.

    REIC Toronto Chapter Welcomes its Newest Member.

    Barbara Morris, FRI CRES joins Toronto Chapter after many years in Ontario's Golden Horseshoe.

    On behalf of the chapter, REIC Toronto Chapter President Ron Fraser, CPM® would like to welcome  Barbara Morris, FRI CRES as the newest member of the REIC Toronto Chapter. Barbara participated in her first Chapter event on April 22 when she attended the 2010 Toronto Chapter AGM at Katz's Deli.  

    Barbara moves to the Toronto Chapter after serving the Golden Horseshoe Area for a number of years where she became a fixture within the community.

    Barbara began her career in the real estate industry starting in 1990. She joined the Real Estate Institute of Canada in 1998 and earned her CRES designation that same year. The following year Barbara added a second designation to her resume by earning her FRI designation. Before entering the real estate world  Barbara had a successful career in business.

    Barbara is a Broker member of the Toronto Real Estate Board and a Residential and Commercial REALTOR®. She is a Member of the Commercial Division of Toronto and the National Commercial Council of the Canadian Real Estate Association.  Ms. Morris is also a Market Value Appraiser (MVA-R) Award Winner.

    She currently works for Home Life Local Real Estate Ltd.

    Submit Information for the 2010 IREM Income/Expense Analysis Report Now!

    Data to be collected until April 1, 2010

    The REPAM (Real Estate Property/Asset Management) Council and IREM (Institute of Real Estate Management) are encouraging its Canadian members to provide data on the properties they manage for the 2010 Income /Expense Analysis Report.


    Submit information now to help provide Canada with accuarte Information. 


    Please remember that  the dealine to submit information is April 1, 2010 and you do not have to be a member of IREM to  be eligable to participate.

    REALTORS® can now participate in the Employment Insurance (EI) program.

    In a press release issued on February 1, 2010 it was announced that self-emplyed REALTORS® can now participate in the Employment Insurance (EI) program beginning in January 2011.

    REIC is Now Accepting Nominations for the 2010 REIC Pursuit of Excellence Awards

    The Real Estate Institute of Canada is now accepting nominations for the 2010 Pursuit of Excellence Awards. You can nominate your fellow members, real estate associations and chapters in over a dozen different categories. The REIC Board of Directors and the Awards Task Force encourages REIC Members to submit numerous submissions.  

    Please download the 2009 Pursuit of Excellence Awards Brochure and make certain that you look at the new and updated awards being offered this year. Entry forms are also available for download. 

    This year’s award winners will be announced at the annual REIC Awards Dinner & Dance to be held on Saturday May 30, 2009 as part of the 2009 REIC Annual Conference in Halifax Nova Scotia.  

    REIC Members are asked to be aware of submission deadlines when preparing their nominations. 

    The deadline for awards is Friday April 16, 2010 @ 4:00PM EST. Chapter of Year Award submissions will be accepted until Friday May 21, 2010 @ 4:00PM EST.  

    Anyone with questions regarding the 2009 REIC Pursuit of Excellence Awards or the nominating procedure is asked to contact REIC Executive Administrator Lisa Blain at 1-800-542-7342 x27 or lisa.blain@reic.com.

    New partnership offers new service to REIC members

    The Real Estate Institute of Canada is pleased to announce it has formed a partnership with BOMA Canada regarding their BOMA BESt program.     REIC Joins the Social Networking World on the Internet

    The Institute has created pages on Facebook and Linkedin to help keep members connected

    The Real Estate Institute of Canada has decided to join the social networking world on the internet. Recently REIC has created company pages on both Facebook and Linkedin.

    This experimental project is being done in an attempt to try and keep REIC members across Canada more connected with each other leveraging the use of social media and technology.
