2008 REIC Pursuit of Excellence Award Winners

The Real Estate Institute of Canada is pleased to announce the winners of the 2008 REIC Pursuit of Excellence Awards. The Awards were handed out on Saturday May 31, 2008 during the 2008 REIC Awards Dinner and Dance. The event was held in the Pinnacle Ballroom of the Pinnacle Marriott Hotel in Vancouver BC, as part of the festivities of the 2008 REIC Annual Conference.
The Pursuit of Excellence Awards Program recognizes REIC members, chapters, associations, and corporations who contribute to the advancement of REIC and the Real Estate Industry within the past year.
The 2008 REIC Pursuit of Excellence Award Winners are:
The Patrick J. Harvey Award
The Patrick J. Harvey Memorial Award is bestowed upon the REIC member, who through personal sacrifice and
initiative, has contributed to the professional advancement of the Institute through the development of an
educational program.
2008 Winner: Scott Fischer, CRP
The J.A. Weber Award
This award pays tribute to the REIC member who, at the chapter level, has made a significant contribution to the
advancement of the Institute. The nominee’s efforts should have directly influenced the growth and recognition of
an REIC chapter.
2008 Winner: Diana Crossin, FRI
The Murray Bosley FRI of the Year Award
This award pays tribute to the REIC member who, at the chapter or national level, has made a significant
contribution to the advancement of the FRI designation.
2008 Winner: James Murphy, FRI
REIC CPM® of the Year Award
This award is presented to the REIC CPM® member in good standing, considered by his/her Chapter to be one of the foremost supporters of the chapter and the CPM® designation over a period of years.
2008 Winner: Sharon Bart, CPM® ARM®
REIC Community Services Award
This award honours the chapter and/or member that have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the local
community, through volunteer services and charitable work, within the chapter’s jurisdictional boundaries.
2008 Individual Winner: Vittoria Tassone, FRI CRES
2008 Chapter Winner: REIC Toronto Chapter
Bentall Literary Award
Bentall generously contributes a $1,000 cash award annually to the winning author.
The Bentall Literary Award (first presented in 1968 as the Claude Leigh Award) recognizes the best in real estate journalism and research as it pertains to Canada’s Real Estate Industry.
2008 Winner: John Molnar, FRI CPM® CRP
REIC Corporate Citizen of the Year Award
This prestigious award is presented to the company that has demonstrated its recognition and support of the
Institute’s goals and objectives through their support of the continued growth and awareness of the Institute.
2008 Winner: H & R Developments
REIC Real Estate Association of the Year Award
This prestigious award is presented to the not-for-profit Real Estate Board or Association that has demonstrated
its recognition and support of the Institute’s goals and objectives by continually supporting growth and awareness
of the Institute.
2008 Winner: REALTORS® Association of Edmonton
Bentall Excellence Award
Bentall generously provides a $1,500 cash award, annually, to the Canadian candidate who attains the highest
mark on the first submission of their Management Plan or first writing of the MPSA. All candidates in good
standing are automatically entered by submitting their Management Plan or by completing the MPSA
2008 Winner: Hilary Börner
Chapter Initiative of the Year Award
This award recognizes the Chapter which has created an innovative educational program, event or marketing
campaign that resulted in an increased awareness of the Institute as well as one or more sectors of the Real
Estate profession.

2008 Large Chapter Winner: REIC Toronto Chapter
The Donald V. Hill Award
Initiated by Donald V. Hill, FRI CPM in 1973, the Don Hill Award is presented to the chapter attaining the greatest
net growth during one fiscal year. Every chapter is automatically eligible for this award in one of two (2)
categories: Small and Large Chapter.
2008 Small Chapter Winner: REIC North of 60 Chapter
2008 Large Chapter Winner: Real Estate Institute of Saskatchewan
Chapter of the Year Award
The Chapter of the Year Award is designed to honour the Small and Large Chapter that has through an
outstanding job in local activities, advanced goals and objectives of the Institute. Such activities include chapter
events, professional development seminars, community service, marketing and membership retention programs.
