Message From the President

It is that time of year once again where members of REIC come from all parts of the country to converge together for our annual conference.

But things certainly have changed in a year haven’t they?  Last year when we all came together in Vancouver, who could have guessed what was going to unfold regarding the economy over the next 12 months. Certainly there were little clues and hints that a downturn was approaching, but I don’t think any of us expected what we have been through recently.

By now you should have all received your REIC conference registration brochure in the mail and instinctively, you probably decided to skip this years’ event and wait until 2010.  I hope that you will take a moment or two and reconsider coming to Halifax.

When making the decision on whether to attend the 2009 conference I would like you to take some things into consideration. It’s during the most difficult times that we need the support of others - your fellow members of REIC are there to provide you with that support.

Visiting with your fellow REIC members provides you with a chance to relax, enjoy yourself and “recharge your batteries”. Interactions pave the way to new ideas and different opportunities – you never know what this conference is going to give you, both on a personal and professional level.

The final thought I want to leave you with is to not put off until tomorrow what you can do today. When we earned our designations, we became leaders within this industry. As a leader it is our job to “take the reins” and carve a path into the future. It is our duty to attend this National conference, doing so will help reestablish the normal business practices we once had and that seem to have vanished during these turbulent times.

I strongly hope you will take my words to heart and join me in Halifax at the end of May. See you there!

Yours truly,

Myrton Bello, FRI

2008-2009 REIC President

votre serviteur,

Myrton Bello, FRI

ICI Président 2008 - 2009
