Get on the fast track!
Applicants may be exempt from the education requirement under the following fast track options:
Other Designations Fast Track
Hold a CPM
®, CAM, RAM, CRM or PCAM designation,
Real Estate Degree Fast Track
Have a 2-year undergraduate or graduate degree (e.g. major, minor, or concentration) in real estate or property management, or an associate degree in non-commercial property management or real estate program.
Becoming a Candidate member with REIC is your first step towards achieving an REIC designation.
- Download the candidacy application form, and complete the package.
- Sign and date the application form indicating your acceptance of the Rules & Regulations.
- Attach current resume and any appropriate real estate education transcripts.
- Include 3 letters of recommendation (from employer, colleagues or associates).
- Include a non-refundable processing fee of $275.00 plus GST/HST. Credit Card, cheque or online payments (via your bank or REIC website) are accepted.
Complete the following courses:
REIC2600 - Ethics in Business Practice
RES201 - Successful Site Management or CID201 - Successful Condominium Management
ARM® Certification Exam
Note: The ARM Certification exam is written at the end of RES201 or CID201 in-class sessions.
Home study option
To take the home study option for the above courses, students must register with REIC directly. The home study exam must be completed and shipped back to REIC National within six months (180 days). If the home study option is chosen, students must also register for the ARM® Certification Exam. The Certification Exam (final exam) consists of 100 multiple choice questions. It is an open book exam and is proctored by your local chapter representative.
Experience Requirements
To obtain the ARM® designation a minimum of one (1) year of qualifying experience, meeting minimum criteria must be met in order for the candidate to qualify for the designation. The ARM® experience criteria are based on the following:
A) The Functions Test
Activities performed by real estate managers are defined according to 29 functions (see Part 2 of Experience Update Form). You must perform 14 of the 29 functions in order to pass the functions test.
B) The Minimum Portfolio Test
To qualify for the experience credit, you must manage a minimum portfolio, which may vary. Please see the application form for full details.
You can acquire the experience while meeting the education requirements.
Other Requirements
- Pledge to uphold the REIC Code of Professional Standards and the IREM Code of Professional Ethics
- Be current with your annual REIC, IREM and chapter dues (if applicable)
- Complete the peer interview requirement.
