CRES - Certified Real Estate Specialist

Earn the CRES Designation

The Certified Real Estate Specialist (CRES) designation recognizes an individual who is a proven top performer and who has demonstrated exceptional skills, training, and experience.  A CRES practitioner has a desire to obtain the very best deal for each and every one of their clients and with this designation, has proven that their commitment has gone above and beyond any provincial licensing requirements.

You must have at least five (5) years of real estate sales or marketing experience and hold a valid real estate license to be considered ready for the CRES designation.

CRES Program

To obtain the CRES designation you must complete the following:
​

REIC2600: Ethics in Business Practice
REIC2270: Consumer Behaviour and Negotiating
​
REIC2280: Legal Issues in Real Estate
FIN402: Investment Real Estate - Financial Tools
The CRES Program will take the typical candidate 12 months to complete. You have 5 years to complete the program for designation.

Cost:
If the program is completed within a year, it will cost the typical candidate who has been accepted into the CRES program $7535 plus taxes.
This is inclusive of the application fee, candidate dues, and all required courses.

Admission Requirements: What do I need to apply?

Education​
  • Official University or College transcript showing at least two (2) completed electives in related disciplines of Business Law or Real Estate Law, OR​ 
  • REIC may recognize experience-based learning in place of formal educational qualifications as well as non-formal learning which is learning that is undertaken through a structured program but does not lead to a formally recognized qualification
  • Attend an REIC Information Session
Experience
  • Active involvement in real estate sales for a minimum of five (5) years
  • First and most recent Trade Transactions Report (eg., MLS Listings)
Expertise
  • Minimum of 1 reference letter (to confirm industry experience and number of years licensed)
  • 2 letters of recommendation (from peers, colleagues, and/or clients)
  • Accolades, sales achievement awards, and/or awards of excellence received during your career (e.g., Diamond Award, Chairman's Club)

APPLY

Complete the application package to apply for the Designation Program. Once your application is approved and you have accepted the REIC Code of Professional Standards, you will become an REIC Candidate and begin your journey to designation.
