CLO - Certified Leasing Officer

Earn the CLO Designation

​The Certified Leasing Officer (CLO) designation identifies professionals with specialized expertise in leasehold acquisition, disposal, and administration. The program prepares real estate practitioners to navigate today’s increasingly complex leasing landscape with confidence and credibility.​

Designation Requirements

Experience
To be eligible to apply for the CLO Program you have:
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in leasing activities throughout your working day.
Application
What do I need to Apply?
You will need:
  • Post-secondary or other educational transcripts or, experience equivalent demonstrating related disciplines in Accounting, Finance, or Economics
  • ​Proof of any real estate education, training or designation programs completed throughout your career
  • 1 professional reference letter
  • 2 letters of recommendation
  • Resume and CV
  • Application fee
  • REIC Verified™ (includes background check)​​
$475 plus tax
Program Acceptance
Program Candidacy
Once approved into the program:
  • Pay Candidate dues $350 annually 
  • 5 years to complete the program from your acceptance date
  • Sign attestation agreement
  • Agree to the REIC Code of Professional Standards

REIC Education
REIC2600: Ethics in Business Practice - $1495 plus tax
REIC2360: The Leasing Process - $2395 plus tax
REIC2361: Negotiation and Documentation - $2395 plus tax
FIN402: Budgeting, Cash Flow, and Reporting for Investment Real Estate - $995 plus tax
$7280 plus tax
Certification
Once you have completed and passed all of the required REIC education you will receive your designation certificate and digital badging.
Maintenance
To maintain your CLO Designation, you will be required to:
  • Maintain a good standing with REIC by paying annual REIC dues. $595 plus tax
  • Renew your REIC Verified™ annually​

Prior to applying, you must meet CLO admission requirements. We also strongly recommend attending an REIC Information Session where we will guide you through what you need, the process, and answer any questions you have.

APPLY

Complete the application package to apply for the Designation Program. Once your application is approved and you've accepted the REIC Code of Professional Standards, you will become an REIC Candidate and begin your journey to designation.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

You must successfully complete and pass the following courses:
REIC2600, FIN 402, REIC2360 and REIC 2361

You will receive your designation certificate, digital badging, CLO pin, and full membership after all requirements have been met. ​
