CLO - Certified Leasing Officer

Earn the CLO Designation

​The Certified Leasing Officer (CLO) designation recognizes the proven specialist in leasehold acquisition, disposal and administration. The CLO program prepares real estate professionals for the complexity of today’s real estate leasing decisions, providing the tools and resources that will help expand your career and business opportunities.

You must have a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in leasing activities throughout your working day.

​This rigorous, specialized education program gives you the edge in every aspect of the leasing process, from acquiring space to administering a leasehold.

CLO Program

To obtain the CLO designation you must complete the following:
​

REIC2600: Ethics in Business Practice
FIN402: Investment Real Estate
REIC2360: The Leasing Process  
REIC2361: Negotiation and Documentation
The CLO Program will take the typical candidate 12 months to complete.
You have 5 years to complete the program  for designation.

Cost
If the program is completed within a year, it will cost the typical candidate who has been accepted into the CLO program, approx.$10340 plus taxes.

Admission Requirements: What do I need to apply?

Education​
  • Official University or College transcript showing at least two (2) completed courses in related disciplines of Accounting, Finance, or Economics,  OR​ 
  • REIC may recognize experience-based learning in place of formal educational qualifications as well as non-formal learning which is learning that is undertaken through a structured program but does not lead to a formally recognized qualification
  • Attend an REIC Information Session
Experience
  • Cover letter and resume detailing your experience in leasing, lease administration & management and related real estate activities and any experience-based or non-formal learning as required
  • Active involvement in leasing, lease administration & management or related real estate activities for a minimum of five (5) years
Expertise
  • Minimum of 1 reference letter (to confirm industry experience and daily activities that pertain specifically to leasing)
  • 2 letters of recommendation (from peers, colleagues, and/or clients)
  • Accolades, sales achievement awards, and/or awards of excellence received pertaining to your career

APPLY

Complete the application package to apply for the Designation Program. Once your application is approved and you've accepted the REIC Code of Professional Standards, you will become an REIC Candidate and begin your journey to designation.

You must successfully complete and pass the following courses:
REIC2600, FIN 402, REIC2360 and REIC 2361
