CPM - Certified Property Manager

Earn the CPM Designation

CPM® (CERTIFIED PROPERTY MANAGER®) is an elite, globally-recognized property management designation. Originating from IREM® (Institute of Real Estate Management), the CPM® demonstrates a mastery of the analytical and leadership skills needed to enhance the short and long-term values of large real estate portfolios, including residential, commercial, condominium, industrial, institutional and mixed-use.

​You must have a minimum of three (3) years of qualifying experience, meeting minimum criteria, in order to qualify for candidacy. ​

The CPM® curriculum covers how to analyze a property’s physical and fiscal performance, implement policies and procedures to enhance short and long-term property values, and how to market, retain and improve tenant, resident and employee relations.

CPM Program

To obtain the CPM® designation you must complete the following:

REIC2600: Ethics in Business Practice
MNT402: Managing Maintenance Operations and Property Risk
MKL410: Marketing and Leasing Strategies for Investment Properties

FIN402: Investment Real Estate - Financial Tools
HRS402: Leading a Winning Property Management Team
ASM603: Financing and Loan Analysis for Investment Real Estate*
ASM604: Performance and Valuation of Investment Real Estate*
​ASM605: Asset Analysis of Investment Real Estate*
MPSAXM: Management Plan Skills Assessment OR submit an individual management plan on an actual property (MPIND)

* REIC offers the ASM Series of courses once a year in- person as ASM600: Asset Management. Check our calendar for the next available date.

The CPM® Program will take a typical candidate 24-36 months to complete.
Approximate Cost
It will cost the typical candidate who has been accepted into the CPM program approx. $13700 plus taxes.

Admission Requirements: What do I need to apply?

Education​
  • REIC may recognize experience-based learning in place of formal educational qualifications as well as non-formal learning which is learning that is undertaken through a structured program but does not lead to a formally recognized qualification
  • Provide proof of any real estate education, training or designation programs that you have completed throughout your career
Experience
  • Cover letter and resume detailing your property management experience and any experience-based or non-formal learning as required
  • Have minimum of three (3) years of qualifying real estate management experience; you were  you are/were in a real estate management position, managed a minimum portfolio, and performed a minimum number of functions. View portfolio and functions requirements.
  • Have been a CPM® candidate for a minimum of 1 year
Expertise
  • Minimum of 1 reference letter (to confirm industry experience and number of years licensed)
  • 2 letters of recommendation (from peers, colleagues, and/or clients)
  • Accolades, achievement awards, and/or awards of excellence pertaining to your career

APPLY

Complete the application package to apply for the Designation Program. Once your application is approved and you have accepted the REIC Code of Professional Standards, you will become an REIC Candidate and begin your journey to designation.​​​

You must successfully complete and pass the following courses:
REIC2600, MNT402, HRS402, MKL410, FIN402, ASM603, ASM604,ASM605 

MPSAXM or complete a management plan on an actual property (MPIND).
